What is Holistic Massage?
Holistic massage therapy takes everything about the client into consideration when treating the body.
This includes diet, health, lifestyle and mind.
Holistic therapy aims to establish and identify the causes of symptoms, whether they be internal or external.
The aim is to re-balance the body, returning it to homeostasis or balance.
Muscles are manipulated byvarious massage techniques,
strokes & movements to break down tension and stress held within the body.
Hands on stretching and breathing exercises are also incorporated into the massage
to increase flexibility, aid relaxation, stimulate the organs and body systems.
The therapist will undergo extensive training in order to treat the client.
This will include knowledge of anatomy and physiology, nutrition and general health issues.
Treatment
The initial first encounter with the therapist will include:

Base oils such as Sweet Almond oil are used to lubricate the skin during treatment. The oils have beneficial effects on the skin:
The therapist will also offer health care advice to the client in order to prolong the effects of the treatments between visits.
Clients will usually feel and see an improvement in both mental and physical well being as the treatments progress.The aim of the treatment is to promote relaxation and offer the patient the chance to be at peace within them self.

- A 15 minute consultation
- From the information obtained the therapist will build a profile and tailor the treatment/s to suit
- A full body massage treatment, lasting one hour to identify
All treatments after this will usually last one hour with a recap on the previous treatment.
The therapist will keep a note of each visit, documenting:
- what was found
- the current state of the client
- improvement or decline in health and well being
- clients who are taking medication may have to get consent from their GP as to whether or not they are eligible for treatment, and those who are unwell e.g. suffering from a cold etc, will not be treated until they are at optimum health.
